Dressing Up!

If you knew me in real life you’d know that Monday thru Friday, I rarely put much effort into my look!  It’s sad but true, but being a mommy to a wonderful little two year old means I simply don’t have the time or energy.  So as much as I would love to get glam and fabulous for work, it just ain’t happening these days.

HOWEVER, once Saturday rolls around, all bets are off!  Bring on the glam and bring on the fabulous.  I don’t care if we’re going to Roscoe’s chicken and waffles on Pico, or Langer’s on Alvarado, mama is getting dolled up! Here are two looks I’ve been wearing lately. The first outfit is a print dress from my favorite downtown LA clothing store Susie Q that I absolutely love and just so happens to belong to my husband.  I styled it with my new statement necklace from SUO boutique and one of my old waist belts which matches this dress perfectly.  I also like how it cinches my waist and gives the illusion of a small waist.  I just might wear this for Easter brunch!  In the second look I’m wearing my favorite asymetrical maxi dress. It’s simple yet sexy and you know I love black.  I also wore this with my statement necklace and SUO boutique booties.

This weekend I’m doing a whole bunch of DIY craft projects for my daughter’s 2nd birthday party and spending time with my parents.  What are you guys doing? Hope everyone has an amazing weekend!  Also, if anybody has any posing or modeling tips, I’d really appreciate them. As you can tell from my pics, I could really use some help!

Xoxo

Spring is Here!

Hi guys, Spring is officially here (though here in Cali, i’m wondering if Winter ever even arrived?) and I’m so excited to share with you one of my favorite looks that I’ve been wearing a lot lately, stripes, stripes, and more stripes!  Striped top, striped handbag, striped maxi dresses, I’m obsessed with them all.  I lam in love with this cute mini striped dress that I found at Marshall’s a while back and have worn it quite a few times already.  I kept it real simple by wearing my Jessica Simpson’s sandals, Steve Madden handbag and my own hat and belt which for the life of me, can’t remember where I purchased because they are just that old.  Hope everyone is enjoying their first day of Spring!Pic2fixedpic1fixedPic3fixedStriped dress: Similar here, here , & here

Valentine’s Day Weekend in LA

Valentine’s day weekend was particularly warm here in LA.
Even for LA standards, I’m not so sure we’re used to 80 degree weather right smack in the middle of February. But I guess I’ll take sunshine over rain and snow any day of the year.

I took advantage of the weather and opted for a classic black strapless jumpsuit with heels, for dinner and drinks with the hubby. I love the versatility of this jumpsuit. You could dress it up with heels like I did or dress it down with sandals and a fedora for a casual day out at the beach.

For dinner, my hubs and I ate at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine bar at LA live in downtown LA and ended our night with drinks at Pattern Bar and the rooftop bar at the Ace Hotel, which if you’re ever in LA, is definitely worth checking out.

Hope everyone had an amazing Valentine’s day weekend! Till next time!

Casual Cool

Being the shameless fashion trend bandwagoner that I am, I decided to buy these black jogger pants the other day not only because i am a lover of all things black, but because they were outrageously comfy.  My God, they are like a combination of slacks and sweats, and the high waist keeps everything tucked in and tight, just how I like it. Throw on some killer heels and VOILA, I’m ready for date night! And how gorgeous is my teal handbag from lulus? I absolutely Love it!
How about you? Any fashion trends you’re loving these days?

Life Lately

Well my friends, there are only 11 wonderful days left in 2014 and i don’t know about you, but I’m so ready for it to be over.  Not that it was a bad year really, but to be honest, the last three months have been nothing but exhausting.  What with holiday parties, Christmas shopping, full time work, and sleep training a toddler, my body and mind seem to have officially checked out.  Life with a toddler or any child is truly a ginormous blessing, it really is.  But MY GOD, is it EXHAUSTING!  How people do it with 2 or 3, blows my mind and that is coming from someone who has the help and support from a village of people.  Lately I’ve been too tired to work out and I’ve noticed that these dark circles have found a permanent home underneath my eyes.  Not cool!  I’m also beyond sick and tired of hearing of all these horrendous acts of violence occurring everyday around the world, especially those committed under the guise of some sort of religion/faith, or acts of violence against women.  When will it stop?

But enough about that.  On a brighter note,  I bought this perfect purple dress for my company holiday party and I love it so much I’ve been wearing it every chance i get. I never really thought  purple and brown paired well together but since I was going for a casual look for dinner in Little Tokyo (Fuga) the other day, I decided to throw on my little brown jacket and knit scarf over it and VOILA, it worked (or so i think?).

2015, you have a lot to live up to and I have many expectations.  But i beg you, please bring with you some energy, positive energy, continued health for my family, friends, and loved ones, and we’re good!

The Ultimate Christmas Gift Guide for the Girly Girl in your Life

If you’re anything like me you vow year after year to get your Christmas shopping done early and out of the way so that you can spend most of your vacation time watching repeats of a “Christmas story” and eating leftover turkey.  You vow to never again pay an extra $35 for rush shipping or to never again even think of going near a mall the week of Christmas.  I don’t know about you, but fighting people for parking spots or waiting in line for hours is not how I want to spend my Christmas Vacation.  So last year after running around the outlet stores in the rain like a chicken with my head cut off trying to find the perfect gifts for everyone on my list I vowed to never ever procrastinate again.

Well I don’t know what happened to all those vows, but here we are December 8th, and I haven’t bought one single gift.  The problem is, I hate not knowing what to buy people.  The last thing i want to do is spend some of my hard earned $$ on a sweater that will never get worn or a purse that will sit eternally hidden in someone’s closet.  That’s why Wish Lists are a MUST.  Below I’ve compiled a handy gift guide for those looking for the perfect gift for that one very fashionable friend in your life.   Someone let’s say, like me!   I present to you MY Christmas Wish List.

Weekend Vibes

Birthday celebrations. Birthday cake. Carne asada tacos. Sleeping in. Sunday Brunch and Bloody Mary’s. What can I say, i had a pretty damn good weekend!  And I couldn’t have asked for better weather.

Saturday night I attended a friend’s 40th birthday party. Eeeek! That’s right, a 40th birthday party. Can you believe it?  It’s amazing how that ugly little number sneaks up on you like that.  When I was a kid, 40 sounded old, like midlife crisis, grey hair, and wrinkle cream OLD.  Yet here I am almost 7 years away from the big 40 and I don’t feel a day over 28.  And guess what, i can still party like a ROCKSTAR!!  I just can’t recover like one!

Thankfully grandma agreed to watch Hailey overnight and the hubby and I were able to sleep in and enjoy Sunday Brunch at one of our favorite spots in Pasadena, Cafe Verde.  Gotta love their chilaquiles and huevos rancheros!
